PlayCajon EP 23: Kevin Ricard

Kevin Ricard is a top percussionist on the LA scene where he has spent decades recording and performing with some of the top names in music including Kenny Loggins, Enrique Iglesias, Jill Scott, Celia Cruz, Joe Zawinul, Patti Labelle, B.B. King, Wayne Shorter, Gladys Knight, Joss Stone, and Cyndi Lauper. Kevin’s cajon performance on American Idol which was viewed by hundreds of millions around the world was a key factor in bringing the instrument to the attention to a massive new audience. As a result manufacturers began selling cajons by the container load and LP and Kevin developed the Kevin Ricard cajon. Kevin is a lovely person with a huge amount of experience as a studio and live percussionist. I very much enjoyed our chat and I hope you do too.
